MyHealthNB Frequently Asked Questions

    To Register for a MyHealthNB account to access your own personal health information, you must:

    1. have a Canadian Health Card number (NB Medicare or other)
    2. be at least 16 years of age (parents/guardians will be able to add a child(ren) under 16 after they have created their own account)
    3. have a unique personal email address that will be used as your Username and will be associated to your Health Card number (multiple accounts cannot be created using the same email)
    4. have a Registration Code

    You must have a registration code to create an account that gives you access to your own personal health information.  If you already have an account, you may need a registration code to increase your access level.

    If you have NB Medicare:

    • To register for a MyHealthNB account or increase the access level of your account, you must have received a registration code. This shows that your identity has been verified and is necessary to grant you access to your personal health information. 
    • The access level on your account will be set to “Full Personal Access”.

    If you have a Canadian Health Card (other than NB Medicare):

    • If you register with another Canadian Health Card number (other than NB Medicare) and registration code you can only access the COVID-19 application on the MyHealthNB website.
    • If you received a registration code at a previous COVID-19 PCR test or vaccination, you can use that to register. 
    • The access level for your MyHealthNB account will be set to “Limited Personal Access”.

    Health care providers will not be able to access your MyHealthNB account. However, they can access your personal health information using other health systems.

    We collect your personal information to confirm your identity as part of the account creation process. We also use your personal information to provide you with technical support. We only collect personal information from you that is necessary for these services.

    Personal information is not disclosed to third parties without your consent, other than as permitted or required by law. MyHealthNB and our partners do not sell, rent, or lease Personal information.

    Personal health information is not shared with any federal system or any other province’s systems.

    All staff members sign a confidentiality agreement and complete mandatory privacy awareness training at the time of hire, and periodically thereafter.

    You play a vital role in securing your username (email address) and password. Your username and password are the unique way for us to know that it is you accessing your online account.

    Always create a complex password meeting the system requirements, that is meaningful to you, and is not known or easily guessed by others. Never share your password, write it down, or allow anyone else to observe you entering your password.

    Once your personal health information reaches your device it is your responsibility to protect it. Here are a few steps we recommend:

    • Never leave your device unattended while you are logged on to our applications and websites
    • Ensure your device is password protected
    • When you are finished using an application, always log out, and when using the MyHealthNB website close all browser windows
    • Ensure you always have up-to-date anti-virus and malware protection installed on your device at all times

    The security of your personal information is essential to our delivery of our MyHealthNB applications and websites. MyHealthNB uses industry standard security practices to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure.

    For example, your personal information is protected while it is in transit between your device and our server using security techniques such as encryption, safeguarding your personal information from being read or modified.

    Security and privacy are a top priority at MyHealthNB. If you find that your account has been locked, it is in an effort to protect any sensitive data you may have on our websites.

    In order to keep your information secure, an account may be locked if there were too many failed login attempts or if we believe the security of your account may be at risk.

    You will need to enter a security code when you login to MyHealthNB if you have not trusted the device (operating system/browser) you are logging in on. Checking “I trust this device” will allow ongoing access without the need to enter a security code every time you log in with the same device.
